Safeguarding

Safeguarding is our fundamental duty under the Early Years Foundation Stage Curriculum (EYFS) , it underpins everything that we do and it is our statutory obligation to have regard to good safeguarding practices when working withearly years children.

Each setting is required to have a person as a Designated Safeguarding Lead whose responsibilities include 'liaison with local statutory children's services agencies, and with the Local Safeguarding Children Board (LSCB). They must provide support, advice and guidance to any other staff on an ongoing basis, and on any specific safeguarding issue as required.' (Statutory Framework for the EYFS 2017). Additionally, all early years providers must ensure that their staff have training to understand their Safeguarding Policy and have up to date knowledge of safeguarding issues.

At Jackanory our courses are primarily planned to meet the requirements of the EYFS and have due regard for the processes and procedures of each local Safeguarding Children Board.  All courses have regard to the government's statutory guidance ‘Working Together to Safeguard Children 2018', to the ‘Revised Prevent Duty Guidance for England and Wales 2019' and the government’s ‘Keeping Children Safe in Education 2019’ statutory guidance, Our aim is not to provide generic safeguarding training but to tailor it to the needs of all practitioners, wherever their locality.
